Here are some additional notes that you might want to read later:
Link Game
In the link game, two players can play together on two computers. You connect them via AppleTalk™ or through the serial ports using a null-modem cable or two modems. We recommend that you use the direct serial connection instead of AppleTalk™ because a busy network might slow down the game's speed.
If you want to connect two Macs through the serial ports, simply use a cable like the one that connects a printer to your Mac.
The menu item "link choice" appears in the main menu only if you have activated AppleTalk™ in the "Chooser" Control Panel before starting the game. Otherwise, only the serial connection can be used.
Attention: If you use AppleTalk™ with the current version of Oxyd™, you can only play with a partner on your local network but not through a bridge.
MacEvents (background processes)
By default, Oxyd™ does not allow background processes while running. If you want to enable them, use the appropriate option in the main menu.
Enabling the events will slow Oxyd™ down. The more applications that are in the background, the slower Oxyd™ will run. For that reason, be sure to quit all other applications before you start Oxyd™.
Problems with After Dark™
This screen saver will cause some confusion on the screen if you have enabled MacEvents. This happens because After Dark™ is not informing other applications if it blanks the screen. This is a "feature" of this program. Other screen savers, like "Pyro™", will work better.
Sound
Although the sound manager in the Mac System Software provides many functions, it was not designed to support screen animated programs like Oxyd™. If you have sound turned on, don't be surprised if the animation of the marble is not perfect. If you turn the sound off, it will work better…
If you do not have all the free memory that Oxyd™ recommends (see Get Info from the File-menu in the Finder), some of the sounds may not be loaded.
What's new in version 3.3?
* In version 3.2, the monochrome version wrote the scrolling text at the top of the screen on some monitors. This bug is fixed.
* Now all the parameters (Sound, Events, Link) are saved in the system folder (preferences folder in System 7) in the file «Oxyd™ Preferences». The Hiscores are placed in the same folder under the name «Oxyd™ MinTimes».
What's new in version 3.4?
* If the monitor is not set to 16 colors or monochrome, Oxyd will change the resolution by itself now.
* Level 68 may now be played on Macs with small monitors (Classic, SE, Plus), too.
What's new in version 3.5?
* Oxyd should now work on the new machines from Apple (Color Classic, Duo 210 & 230, Centris etc.), too
* Some sounds were corrupted in version 3.4
What's new in version 3.6?
* Sound on new machines is now supported.
What's new in version 3.7?
* "Oxyd™ 16 colors (8Bit)" allows to start the game on machines which don´t support a 16 color graphic mode (e.g. PowerMac 7100 with graphic card). The new version makes an online conversion of the internal16 color graphic.
* The error of ToasterScreen support (512*320 pixel screens) in version 3.6 has been corrected.
